The Best Restaurants in Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon’s seaside position ensures a bounty fresh seafood year round which makes its way into the delights that Lisbon’s varied kitchens offer. Lisbon is home to one of Europe’s most exciting food scenes and is fast becoming a gastro-destination. Innovative chefs combine exotic old-world flavors with new in this vibrant city. These are my favorites.

Avillez and his team strive for excellence using organic seasonal produce. Their outstanding extended wine list offers mostly Portuguese wine but has a good selection from around the world. Located in the city’s Bairro Alto district in an attractive, classically elegant dining room, it is not to be missed.

4. Chiado Palace

Housed in a real 18th-century palace, the setting is extravagant and one of a kind.
